How and why we use personal data
We process personal data for the following purposes:

We use communications, booking records and complaint information to answer enquiries, resolve problems and improve service quality.

We process account, device, location and technical records to protect passengers, drivers, accounts, vehicles, systems and payments.

LDC Driver application
LDC Driver is intended only for chauffeurs approved by London Direct Chauffeurs.
The app does not offer public account registration. Driver accounts are created and supplied by LDC.
The app supports:
Secure driver login
Receiving assigned jobs
Accepting or rejecting work
Viewing booking numbers and journey details
Updating journey progress
Sending arrival, passenger-on-board, completion and no-show updates
Receiving push notifications
Viewing earnings
Displaying passenger nameboards
Operational communication with LDC
Live driver location during an active job
Driver authentication
Login and session information is used to verify the driver and protect booking information. Authentication tokens are stored using secure device storage where supported.
If biometric login is enabled, the fingerprint or facial check is performed by the device operating system. LDC receives only the result of the authentication check. LDC does not receive or store fingerprint, facial or other biometric templates.
Push notifications
The app uses push-notification services, including Firebase Cloud Messaging and Expo services. These providers process a device push token and limited device or app information to deliver job alerts and operational notifications.
Precise and background location
LDC Driver collects precise location data to provide live journey monitoring, dispatch support and driver safety during an active chauffeur job, including when the app is closed or not in use.
Background location collection starts when the driver marks an assigned job as “On route”.
It continues while the job has an active status such as:
On route
Arrived
Passenger on board
Location collection stops when:
The job is completed
The job is closed or cancelled
The job is reassigned
The driver signs out
Location access is disabled in the device settings
During an active job, the app normally sends a location update after a material movement or approximately every 30 seconds, depending on device conditions, signal and operating-system restrictions.
The booking system stores the driver’s latest reported coordinate, accuracy and update time. It is designed to update the latest position instead of creating a continuous route history.
Authorised LDC dispatch and operations staff use this information to:
Confirm progress towards the pickup
Monitor active jobs
Support the driver
Respond to delays, incidents or emergencies
Coordinate service delivery
LDC does not sell precise location information or use it for advertising.
If background location permission is refused, location updates are limited to periods when the app remains open. This reduces LDC’s ability to monitor and support an active journey.
Device location permission is separate from the lawful basis relied upon under data protection law. Our lawful basis is performance of the driver service arrangement and our legitimate interests in safe, reliable and accountable transport operations.
Offline information
The app stores limited job and session information on the device to maintain essential functionality when the connection is interrupted. Access is restricted to the signed-in driver. Signing out clears locally stored session information where supported.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on our website, we collect the information entered into the comments form, together with the visitor’s IP address and browser user-agent string, to detect and prevent spam.
An anonymised hash created from an email address might be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether the visitor uses it. The Gravatar privacy policy is available at:
https://automattic.com/privacy/
Following approval of a comment, the associated profile picture might appear publicly beside the comment.
Uploaded media
Images or documents uploaded for bookings, driver profiles, vehicle records or nameboards are processed to provide and manage the relevant service.
Avoid uploading images containing unnecessary personal information or embedded location data.
Images uploaded publicly to the website might contain embedded EXIF GPS data. Website visitors might download the image and extract this information.

Embedded content and third-party links
Our website might include embedded videos, maps, images, articles or other content from third parties.
Embedded content behaves as if the visitor had visited the third-party website directly. The third party might collect data, use cookies, apply tracking technology and monitor interactions with the content.
Our website and app also contain links to third-party websites or services. Their privacy practices are controlled by their own policies. LDC is not responsible for how an independent third party processes information after the user leaves our service.

We do not sell or rent personal data.
International data transfers
Some technology providers process information outside the United Kingdom.
Where personal data is transferred to a country without a recognised adequate level of protection, we use an approved safeguard. This includes the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum to approved contractual clauses or another safeguard permitted by UK data protection law.
Further information about the safeguards used for a specific provider is available by contacting us.
How long we retain personal data
We keep personal data only for as long as needed for the purpose collected, legal obligations, safety, accounting, complaints and legal claims.
Our normal retention periods are:

Use the email subject:
Account Deletion Request
Include enough information to identify the account. We will verify the requester’s identity before processing the request.
Eligible profile, access and app information will be deleted or anonymised. Booking, payment, earnings, tax, licensing, safety, complaint and legal records remain where retention is required by law or for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.

We will verify your identity before releasing, changing or deleting personal information.
Marketing preferences
Marketing emails and messages include an unsubscribe method.
You also have the right to object to marketing by contacting:
info@londondirectchauffeurs.com
Stopping marketing does not stop essential booking confirmations, payment messages, security alerts or operational communications.
We retain a minimal suppression record after an unsubscribe request to ensure marketing is not sent again.
Password resets
If you request a password reset, technical and security information, including an IP address, might be included in or associated with the reset process to protect the account and investigate unauthorised activity.
Children’s information
Our booking and driver services are not intended for use by children acting independently.
An adult, parent, guardian, school, company or authorised organiser might book transport for a passenger under 18. We process only the information needed to provide the journey safely.
